Five young women photographers recount their country, Ethiopia, through images captured by their lenses, addressing a theme that aims at stimulating people to overcome conventions and stereotypes: distance. This is the basic structure of Distance, the new project by Tales-on, artistic platform supported by Caffè Bristot, conceived and curated by Marco Milan to create connections with contemporary artists working in the countries where coffee is produced.

Distance is carried on in cooperation with Addis Foto Fest, the first international photography festival in Ethiopia whose fourth edition will take place in Addis Ababa from 15 to 20 December, 2016, and thanks to the contribution by its founder and director, Ethiopian world-famous photographer Aida Muluneh.

The photographs, together with the video interviews to the artists, will be at the core of two twin exhibitions: in Addis Ababa, as a collateral event of Addis Foto Fest (from 15 to 20 December, 2016), and in Venice, at Scoletta Battioro, campo San Stae (from 16 December, 2016 to 8 January, 2017; opening on Thursday, 15 December, 2016 at 5.30pm). The project will continue with the creation of an artist book in 500 copies that will be given to the main cultural institutions and opinion leaders all over the world, and with an action of concrete support to the development of the artistic research and production in Addis Ababa, whose details will be displayed during the next weeks.
